Too Beauty to Be True

I am really so into these plants. I just don’t know why but I really love flowers, however, I cannot tell if plants really like me as well. For I have lots of experiences planting flowers and vegetables in my front yard and back yard but I am really disappointed always each time my plant won’t grow.

I guess I do not possess the trait of that so-called green-thumb thing.   Yet, I still believe that whenever you do a lot of effort in maintaining your garden, like watering it every day and cultivating it and so forth. By chance, in time my plant will grow faster. I admit that sometimes I made some faults also because sometimes I forgot to water them. And now I’m very aware of it, you have to really take good care of your plants to make them grow faster. My friends also suggested that I have to talk to my plants every morning as if you’re just telling them a story or something while watering it. I want to give it a try though.

Asong Kalye Schooled To Be K9 Dogs

Street dogs are also known here in the Philippines as Asong Kalye, these are dogs on the street which is not own by anyone, and no specific person responsible for taking care of these dogs or maybe there is  a person owning these dogs but didn’t held any responsibilities for them (napabayaan na).  While K-9 is an abbreviation and homophone of Canine. It has been said that the term came from the military, where namings such as G2 are being used in address to respective person or thing. The term originally pertains to war dogs but was carried on to police, sentry and assistance dogs.

The Philippine Coast Guard in Davao Region schooled street dogs to become a member of K9 units. They said that there were 20 askals underwent training for k9 units pass through the course. Even so, the problems with askals are that the attention span of these dogs is shorter than those other dogs that they usually school to become members of K9 units. Askals dogs prefer to play than train. They also said that local breeds of dogs have the potential to become k9 units, which can also do the same task if given the proper training like the other imported breed dogs. And training high-breed dogs would be costly and in a way our local dogs can really help on this issue.

I think it’s better for the PCG in using their initiatives to train our local breed dogs to help them in security purposes. It is of best also for the street dogs especially those dogs that are not being taken care of by the owner. At least they’ll be trained and provide them their needs especially their foods, instead of just staying there in the streets and sometimes cost harm to anyone. However, let’s not forget that these dogs of ours need to be pampered also and have time to play with them as well and not just over used them for our personal intentions. Remember to treat them fairly and respect them because they’re created by God just like us. Be kind to creatures.

Filipinos Pride

A lot of Filipino inventors don’t get much publicity in the country. But this could not hinder Alexis Belonio, a Filipino inventor from doing it so and ceding forth. He was actually the first Filipino to get a Rolex Award for enterprise for his creation of a low-cost, environment friendly rice husk gas stove. This award recognizes initiating projects throughout the world to manifest the innovation and add to the betterment of human kind.

Belonio works as a researcher at the International Rice Research Institute and as an associate professor of agricultural engineering at Central Philippine University. He said that he was motivated by the poor farmers in the Philippines who faced with the costly amount of fuel for cooking. His invention doesn’t only help the problem on rice husk disposal, but also serves as substitute for charcoal stoves with comparatively cooking in a shorter time and lower cost. He wanted that his invention will be made used by many Filipino people, so that the country can save on costs and might as well the environment so to speak.

Being a Filipino in thought and in deeds, it was really good to know that there are still many Filipino inventors who would want to continue their passion in devising new innovative inventions for the goodness of mankind. Despite the fact that they didn’t get much attention and publicity in its country. But with their courage and aspirations they still not giving up making more creations and serving their countrymen. I salute you Sir Belonio, for doing a great job and for bringing the honour to our nation. I do hope that the government will also invest more on these creations to be of use by many people and the government might as well help these inventors of ours. We should love our own creations and be proud of it.
